GOING WITH A GOOD THING (PART TWO)

My 2013 Project Life project led me to my big art project for Sam’s playroom.  Mr. Giraffe (peeking through his triangle patterned curtain) led me to a smaller scale art project:

Mister black and white up there is kind of making my day.

GOING WITH A GOOD THING (PART ONE)

I am so in love with my 2013 Project Life color scheme, that I decided to use the same colors for the big (breaker box hiding) artwork that I made for Sam’s playroom.  Why reinvent the wheel, right?

PRINTABLE / DIGITAL 2013 CALENDARS

My face has been glued to my computer screen for the past week.  And this is (part of) the result:

And with that, my grace and light etsy shop is up and running again.

The exciting news for you?  If you can be patient, the 3"x4" calendar can be yours for the price of $0.00.  I am currently selling it in my shop for $5, but will be sharing the digital file for each calendar page at the start of each month in 2013.

January's calendar page will be available on January 1st - along with my goals (I prefer those to resolutions) for the new year.

I am also working on (slowly) developing an entire line of Project Life printables - journaling, filler and title cards that will coordinate with the calendars above.  I am loving this Project Life side project and hope you like it too!

PROJECT LIFE - MAKING PLANS FOR 2013

It is (not quite) the middle of October and I am already making plans for Project Life 2013.  AKA brooke's Project Life 2.0.

I can't help myself.  I like to plan.

I am also slightly obsessed with making things look pretty. When the two combine into one big project, well, that's where you will find me.

Here are the things motivating the changes to my 2013 version of Project Life:
  • I long for a greater degree of consistency/cohesiveness within my album.
  • I want my book to more closely resemble my personal taste/style.
  • I have ogled the pages of other people's PL albums and they have inspired me.  There is some seriously amazing stuff out there in the blogosphere.
  • I have had sufficient time to create a "line" of journaling and filler cards that I am really excited about.
And here are the unofficial plans:
  • Include more white/negative space.
  • Include (or at least try) some hand journaling.
  • Create a more unified look by using a small sampling of scrapbooking products and methods throughout my album.  I plan to fill most of my album with journaling and filler cards of my own design, but also have my eye on a few things to buy.
And now, for some of those amazing pages that I mentioned above:

PROJECT 333 - ONE WEEK DOWN

You know how you always think things in the future (especially the things that you work really hard at planning) will just be magical and perfect?

And you know how the day/time/event arrives and said things might indeed be pretty great, but you are kind of surprised to find that you are still you and the day is still just another day?  Well, I was reminded of all of that as I went through my closet one final time to write out my finalized Project 333 list.

Don't get me wrong, I am quite happy with my list and excited about this project for several reasons.  But.  The dream wardrobe that I somehow thought was going to appear in my closet didn't quite happen.  My closet is still filled with my clothes.  I am way too frugal to let myself go out and buy an entirely new wardrobe.  Also, I really wasn't setting out to give myself a new style, so everything in my closet feels pretty true to the general "style" (if you will allow a girl without much fashion sense to use that word) that I have had for the last five to ten years.

This project may not have transformed my closet, but I do feel like it has already improved my lifestyle.

For starters, I feel like my wardrobe is much more "grown up" than it has been in the past.  I guess this goes along well with the fact that I am now somebody's mama.

I feeling that I look more put together when I am out and about.  That is a good feeling.  In the past week, I haven't worried about potentially running into someone I know at the grocery store whilst wearing yucky, should-really-just-be-worn-around-the-house yoga pants and a t-shirt.

Even if I am just staying home for the day, getting dressed for the day helps me to be more productive.  Getting things done is good.

Not everything in my closet can mix and match, but there are enough items that do, that I can pretty easily put together a large number of outfits.  Speaking of such things: I would really like to take take photos of myself on various days throughout the next few months to show you (and myself) the great variety that can come out of a limited number of pieces.

I have not purchased any of the "to be purchased" items that were on my list, so for now this is still, technically Project 329.

P.S. Although you might not guess it from the photo at the top of the post, I do own more than one pair of pants.

Are you doing Project 333?  How do you feel after the first week?  Are you worried that you are going to run out of things to wear by the end of the month?

PROJECT LIFE - APRIL 2012

My Project Life layout for the week of April 8-14th (also known as Easter week) was my favorite of the month.

I had fun expanding on the theme of the week by including a photo of Sam's first Easter basket, John 3:16 (the very reason for the season) printed on kraft paper and a photo of the Easter story from our copy of Baby's Hug-a-Bible.

I am also quite smitten with the weekly run-down journaling card that I downloaded from a vegas girl at heart.  The bright colors add just the right amount of "happy" to the page.
